Dubbo
Teresa Yasserie is a Wiradjuri women from Dubbo, NSW.
My artwork reflects my early years of living in the Peak Hill area in the scrub and moving onto the mission. I use ochre and charcoal in the majority of my works that I collect locally.
My environment has influenced me since I was very young. For the first five years of my life, I was living in
a scrub in a tin shack in the bush before I became one of the Stolen Generation. The images I depict come from childhood memories of family and Country before I was taken from my family.
Later, I attended Southern Cross University and completed a Bachelor Degree of Visual Arts and became a TAFE Teacher in Aboriginal Arts & Cultural Practices.
