Dirrawang// Max Lyons
Necklace and Earring Set Set of Quandong Earrings with silver hooks and silver wire with emu feathers with matching necklace on a silver chain.
Dirrawang (emu feathers in Wiradjuri)
Inspired by the women (yinaa-galang) in my life, I wanted to make some quandong (guwandang) jewellery but with my own design and also encorporating emu feathers (dirriwang), both sourced locally. Using silver artistic wire, each piece is unique, drawing shapes from nature - circles (maarung-galang), water (galing) and rivers (bila-galang)

I am a Wiradjuri man (Wiradyuri gibir) living in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Wiradjuri Country, with bloodties to Narrandera (Narrung Clan). I started making jewellery when I was suffering from depression as a creative outlet. I love making my own designs and concepts as I continue to evolve as a creator and sharing it with other and mixing materials and different styles. I like encorporating Wiradjuri language and symbols in my designs. I have my own small business which I use for my designs - murrawalirra - which means stamping in Wiradjuri, as I intially started metal stamping jewellery.
