Maddy Hodgetts

Maddy is a Ngiyampaa/Wangaaypuwan and Wiradjuri, artist, designer, and dancer, based in Nyngan NSW, Wangaaypuwan Country. Maddy translates traditional Central Western Aborignal styles and practices though her work while telling stories from her Country. 

Since a young age, Maddy has been learning and practicing many aspects of her Culture and has a long history of painting cultural designs.  She is passionate about continuation and reclamation of her Culture and Langauge  as well as sharing and sustaining Culture within her community.  She regularly provides workshops and programs through her business, Kapata Dreaming, that focuses on art, weaving, dance and more.  

She launched Yapa Mali in 2021 to share Cultural adornments and designs as wearable art. She strives to uphold cultural values while further showcasing the beauty and importance of First Nations Culture through fashion.
